
History of the NCCWTC
Status
Incorporated in North Carolina as a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation.
Designation
The council was designated by former Governor Hunt as the official body to represent North Carolina in working with the Civil War Trust, a national preservation group.
Directors
The Board of Directors includes representatives from the private sector, the NC Department of Cultural Resources, the NC Museum of History, NC Historic Sites, the Division of Tourism, Film and Sports Development, and local Convention and Visitors Bureaus.
Projects
The Council has published the brochure "North Carolina Civil War Trails.” It also publishes a quarterly newsletter with a comprehensive calendar of in-state events. In 2007, the Council plans to initiate its own Grants Program for Civil War interests in NC. The Council has taken the lead in conducting a unified promotional plan for the state's Civil War Sites.
